Many things that used to be done in the home by hands are now being done by machines. Does this development bring more advantages or disadvantages?
In many homes, manual household chores are now being done by modern machines such as washing machines and automatic vacuum cleaners. Some people feel that such a development is disadvantageous and will make people lazy. Others, however, myself included, think that it is convenient and beneficial for many families.
Some people support the view that the use of modern household equipment will promote indolence and lead to health issues. They claim that people will just lie around and become too dependent on machines. Thus, it is conducive to sedentary lifestyle. As a result of inactivity, people will develop obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes. In fact, a study published recently shows that one of the significant factors behind the growing population of overweight people is the lack of physical activity and that people who do their laundry manually and other similar things are fitter and healthier than those who rely on washing machines and the likes. Therefore, the argument that modern machines at homes cause health problems is valid.
On the other hand, regardless of the drawback of using machines at home in relation to health, we cannot deny that there are several benefits modern equipment offer. Life is easier and more convenient with them around. For instance, after coming from school or work, one no longer needs to do laundry traditionally; with just one push of a button, clothes can be washed and used in just an hour. As a result, there is more time to do something else like reading books or playing sport with friends. What cannot be done before due to household chores can be done with the help of machines.
To recapitulate, while modern household equipment may lead to obesity, I believe that they simply make life more convenient. In my opinion, the advantages outweigh the drawback and I will still use them in my house.
In many homes, manual household chores are now being done by modern machines such as washing machines and automatic vacuum cleaners. Some people feel that such a development is disadvantageous and will make people lazy. Others, however, myself included, think that it is convenient and beneficial for many families.
