Some people think that the government is wasting money on the arts and that this money could be better spent on education.
To what extent do you agree with this view?

It is commonly believed that art plays a fundamental role in society as artists are able to express their thoughts and their culture in their work. In my opinion, the government should definitely fund art because people can develop their creativity and express themselves in their art work but the funding should not be so high that it is detrimental to other services of the government such as education.

Firstly, I believe that art is essential and the government should allocate enough money on it to promote people's creativity and imagination. With the development of imagination and creative thinking, people will be dynamic, individual thinkers and therefore, become productive citizens of the country. Another important advantage of funding art is that it provides medium through which people can express their emotions and feelings. By using art, they can be able to express themselves through pictures and symbols, which is advantageous to the country's culture in a long-term perspective.

However, regardless of how useful the art is for people, this should not result in more funding being placed on art rather than education. Education is obviously more important than art, and the government should allocate more money on it. Therefore, ensuring that there is a right amount of money being appropriated to art and education by the government in its annual budget is essential.

In conclusion, while art certainly can help government develop people's creativity and express their thoughts, it should not receive more funding from the government than education. A good government is the one which allocates enough funding for the arts but at the same time prioritize education.
