To be well-informed, a person must get information from many different news sources.

When it comes to the topic of getting information, people tend to develop various viewpoints. Some would contend that a person has to obtain information from numerous news sources in order to be well-informed, whereas others would hold that one news source can provide individual with adequate information. Personally, I find myself in the same place as the former opinion for the following reasons.

First and foremost, many different news sources can diversify one’s knowledge. Since most news sources only cover one aspect of the reported stories, people will obtain limited information if they follow only one source. On the other hand, numerous sources enable them to be more well-informed with a variety of stories and different perspective. For example, last year there was a hurricane occurred in my country and news channels on television only reported about how and when it happened. To know more about the event, I had to search the Internet for information such as the damage of the hurricane to local areas or donations was given to the affected. What can be clearly seen from this example is that if I had not gotten information from many different news sources, my knowledge would be limited.

Secondly, acquiring information from various news sources is beneficial in terms of convenience. Undoubtedly, most people are too busy to spend time on following a single new sources continuously for hours. Hence, in order to be well-informed, they have to get information from accessible news sources such as using on their smartphone in the subway, or reading newspaper during break time at work. For instance, my brother, who is at university, is always occupied with projects and assignments. However, he spend time during break between classes to read news on the Internet or listen to daily radios whenever possible and as a result, he is regularly updated about local news or current world affairs.

In conclusion, I find myself totally agree with those who assert that an individual has to acquire information from numerous news sources in order to be well-informed.
