My answer:Notwithstanding akash worked hard but his work was impressive

However, neither this nor the original make much sense.

If I knew enough about this machine, I could repair it.
Never since 2002 have we seen Mr. David. (This one sounds a bit unnatural, but I couldn't see any other way to make it start with "never").
