Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Other say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language

Many people consider that overseas travel and occupation is the single reason for learning an international language. However, I would argue that studying abroad and making international friends are also the reasons for knowledge in the second language.
There is a perspective that travelling and working purpose is the only reason for being a foreign language learner. Firstly, they argue that people tend to learn languages from the nation where they are going to travel. For example, learning English make travellers could easily communicate with local people, easily buy things they need and ask for the desired destination. Secondly, people who look for an overseas career have to accumulate a huge range knowledge of the language from where they work. In fact, expert international language user possesses a golden selling point to working for the foreign enterprise. The colleague could easily communicate with each other and provide information without difficulty. Thus, foreign language skill enhancement is the precursor of taking the job abroad.
Nevertheless, it seems to me that there are more than one reasons for being a multilingual person. The students in the less developed country tend to study abroad to developed country, in order to approach to modern education and to acquire a great deal of achievement, but before that, they should learn new languages of where they would study. By the way, the students in the wealthy nation come to the poorer country to do voluntary work, gain more experience of life, and first of all, they learn the language of the location they come. Therefore, thanks to learning an international language, people could study abroad and build a friendship from all continents of the world, make the world to the better place.
