Hi everybody,

Could you please tell me whether the following sentences are possible?

1) The doctor suggested bed rest for the patient, who suffered from a bad cold.

2) The doctor suggested bed rest for the patient, who had suffered from a bad cold.

They are both possible, but they are unnecessary because the first one is already just fine. I don't know of a reason why you would want to use the others. Do you have a particular reason

No, because "rest" is uncountable. You can't have one rest, two rests, three rests, ....

And also we take rest whenever we need it. So it cannot be counted. Now,I understand well.
