Some say that sports play an important role in the development of society. Others think it is nothing more than a leisure activity. Discuss both view and give your opinion.
Some people think that sports play a key role in the development of community. However, other people say that it is nothing more than a free time activity. In my opinion, I believe that playing sports is essential for the growth of society while it is just a free time activity.
On the one hand, there are various reasons why some believe that sports are nothing more than a physical recreation. First, sports should only play the role in reducing stress and relaxing. Not everyone has the abilities and potentials to become professional sports players. Second, players have a win-at-all-cost attitude which do more harm than good to the society. They do everything to win, such as using illegal stimulant or threatening the opponents in various ways. Therefore, it is a bad influence on young generation.
On the other hand, I would argue that playing sports has a significant contribution to the society. First, sports gather people together. For example, when World Cup occurs, people gather and socialize with each other when watching sports events. Sports bond players, fans of different countries together with a common goal. Second, playing sports can make people become more and more healthier. People who play sport regularly can release toxic element from their body and reduce the chance of having disease.
To sum up, although some people think that sports are nothing more than a leisure activity, I personally agree that sports play an essential role in the growth of society and make our life better.
