Please check correct my writing task 2 essay about fast food. Thank you

In some countries, an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is a sad fact that there is a significant increase in the number of individuals who are getting health issues due to the excessive consumption of unhealthy fast food. Consequently, some people claim that it is crucial for authorities to enact a higher tax on this type of food. From my perspective, I am not in agreement with this idea that officials should increase taxes on fast foods to discourage people from eating such food.

First, imposing higher taxes can cause more negative influences on people’s health. People who have tight schedules to have a proper meal can choose fast foods as temporary meals to recover their energy. If the government raises the fast food tax, people will lose their fast food choices and lead to skipping their meals. This means that a large number of health problems that they can get when not eating food for a long period of time. For example, when fast food taxes are gone up, poor people can be unaffordable to buy fast foods to eat in their breakfast or lunch, they do not have enough time to make their own proper meals because of their tight working schedules. Therefore, they tend to skip their breakfast or lunch and this causes them a lot of health issues such as digestive diseases, low blood pressure and kidney stress.

In addition, enacting higher fast food taxes just decreases the small proportion of fast food consumption. Low-income people who can not afford to buy fast food will find other food choices to replace their consumption. However, wealthy people tend to ignore the prices as they still are affordable to purchase expensive fast food. For instance, when the price of a hamburger is gone up twice or triple, poor workers can be unaffordable to pay for it, but rich businesspersons do not care much about prices. Therefore, increasing fast food taxes just prevents a small range of individuals who consume fast food.

To sum up, it is obvious that increasing fast food taxes is not a good solution to reduce the consumption of fast food. If policymakers really want to reduce their intake of fast food, the best solution is to make healthier alternatives affordable and accessible.
