The line graph illustrates the changes in levels in three main types of crime in the center of Newport city in the organization from 2003 to 2012.
In general, car theft and robbery rates fluctuated, whereas the rate of burglary showed a downward tendency from 2003 to 2012.
It is obvious that the rate of burglary rose up and reached a summit at nearly 3700 cases in 2004. There was a collapse of approximately 2500 cases from 2004 to 2008 and reached the lowest point in 2008, at approximately 1200. It fluctuated in the range between 1000 cases to 1500 cases in the next 4 years. The rate of car theft was lower than burglary from 2003 to 2006 and there was equal in the number of cases of burglary and car theft in the middle of the year 2006. From 2007 onwards, the cases of car theft were higher than burglary and showed an upward trend. There was a slight change in the number of cases of robbery. It reached the highest point in 2005, at almost 1000 cases and reached its lowest point in 2009, at 500 cases.
