Please check and evaluate my Ielts writing task 2

Some people believe that scientists’ experimenting animals in a laboratory is the only way we can guarantee new product will be safe for human use. To what extent do you agree?

Using animals in experimentation has been a heated debate for many decades. It is widely believed that the only way to ensure safety of new products is to test it on experimental animals. From my point of view, I totally agree with the statement for the following reasons.

First and foremost, humans and animals have the same reactions when being exposed to a particular stimuli thanks to the biological similarities. Animals which are used as testing models such as mice, rabbits and monkeys holds important characteristics like they are mammals, they have complicated organ system and physiology. By testing on these animals, scientists would have a clear idea on which situation would occur if people use that kind of items. As a result, if any undesirable response is observed, scientist will deduce appropriate solutions for necessary modification to ensure human safety. For instance, the test of many types of DNA vaccine for breast cancer prevention has been recently carried out on mice. A number of experiments has positive results. Hence, scientists expect that such promising products will bring hope for women all over the world against such deathly disease.

In addition, by using animal as a test model for drugs and vaccines, the risks for developing adverse reaction for people who participate in the clinical trials is significantly decreases, especially in developing new treatments for dangerous diseases like cancers, HIV, heart diseases. In the past, before the use of mice in drug testing, human was the main subject for evaluating the efficiency of new treatment. Such action killed thousands of people. So, in vivo experiments is an essential steps before clinical trials in the procedure of evaluation wether a medical product can be released to the market. Therefore, thanks to the detailed examination on animals, the risky conditions for human would be avoided.

In a nut shell, although some people think that using animal for experiment should be banned, I strongly believe that it is acceptable and essential for the reason listed above.
