Write an opinion essay on the topic: " Are you in favour of or against exams being abolished?"

It is argued that examinations should be abolished due to their stress and unfairness. Some people suppose that examinations still play an important part of employment and estimation. I would argue that exams should be remained for various reason.

In my opinion, I strongly believe that the exams would be the motivation for students’ study. Because without exams some students lacking of awareness would become lazy and want to enjoy entertainment rather than focusing on serious study. Moreover it is unfair for good students that there is nothing to recognise their achievement.

It seems to me that students would make better progresses when they receive the feedbacks from the exams and learn from their own mistakes. For example, when a math teacher give students a feedback of the test and help them correct the mistakes, it is 80 percent that they won’t repeat those mistakes again.

Opponents of this view say that exams just test what students remember not what they can do. To a certain extent, this is partly true. However, exams are not always about theories, concepts or definitions. For example, to become an astronaut, a student have to take the extreme physical and metal examinations which require not only particular astronomy knowlegde but survival skills in space.

To conclude, exams are essential to motivate students’ study and help them improve their performance in future examinations. In spite of numerous opposing view, there are many reasonable arguments to keep doing the exams
