Please check and comment my vague idea of the "state"

I have a vague idea as to the "state".
If anybody could clear them up, I will be very grateful.

(1) Water exists in a liquid state.
(my version) "in a liquid state" means: Water exists in a state in which the water exists in liquid.

(2) I am very concerned about the state of her health.
(my version) "the state of her health" means: what kind of state in which her health exists.

(3) The surviors of this fair are still in a state of shock.
(my version) "in a state of shock" means: in a state in which people are shock / or in a shock state;

(4) He seems to be in a rather confused state of mind.
(here, of = done by? ) (my version) "a confused state of mind" means: mind makes a state confused

(5) A state of war now exists between the two countries.
(my version) "a state of war" means: a war state in which the countries exist at war

(6) The house we're buying is in a very good state of repair.
(my version) "a very good state of repair" means: repair makes a state to be very good

(7) After the hurricane the President declared a state of of emergency.
(my version) "a state of emergency" means: an emergency state / a state in which the country exists emergency

(8) an emarrassing state of affairs
(my version) that means: affairs make an embarrassing state
