Please check these sentences for me. Thank you.

1. I swept the classroom yesterday. or I sweep the floor of the classroom.
Can we only use the word 'sweep' on the floor?

2. He catches fish by using a net or He catches fish using a net.

3. He gives a cake to her now. Can we put ' now ' because I have always thought 'now' is used for present continuous tense.

Can we only use the word 'sweep' on the floor? How about clean, polish, vacuum ?
