Some people think that dangerous sport should be banned while others believe that people should be free to choose.

Discuss both views and your give your opinion

In the past decade, there is a rise in the popularity of extreme sports in many countries. Some people feel that the risk in these sports is high and in their opinion, all dangerous sports should be banned. Others, however, myself included, believe that people should be allowed to choose to participate in any sports they want.

Those who believe that dangerous sports should be banned argued that they are detrimental to our health. Based on medical statistics, many people end up physically incapacitated after indulging themselves in such sports. In boxing and other similar sports, for instance, there are numerous reports of people developing early-onset Parkison's disease, which many scientists attribute to the repeated physical trauma people experienced while participating in sports. Furthermore, in mountain climbing, there are several incidents of fall leading to death. Thus, given the harmful effects of these sports, it is not surprising that many advocate that such activities should be illegal.

However, regardless of how dangerous these kinds of sports are for people, this should not result in the banning of such activities. People should be given the freedom to choose whatever they want to do as long as it is not harmful to other people. Eating fast food, for instance, is proven to cause several health issues, including obesity, diabetes and even cancer, but no country has banned fast food chains. So, using the same argument, why would we ban extreme sports when it does affect nonparticipants?

In conclusion, while dangerous sports can undoubtedly be detrimental to people's health, banning them is tantamount to suppression of the freedom of the people. And I firmly believe that liberty is paramount.
