Please break down "as far as I am concerned"

Hi,

I know this sound a little crazy but would you describe why the phrase "as far as I'm concerned" means "in my opinion"? I know the meanings of "as far as" and of "concern" but I have no clue why this combination can be equivalent to "in my opinion" and so I'm not comfortable with the expression when I hear or use it.

ummm, still a bit confusing.

there is a difference, but it sounded closer to "as far as I know" than "in my opinion."

"as far as I know" and "as far as I'm concerned", are they interchangeable in some situations?
