"Please be sitting" vs "Please have a seat"

Hi.
Please help me to understand the difference(s) between these two phrases. In which circumstance will one be preferred over another?

1) Please be sitting.
2) Please have a seat.

Be sitting is not proper. Be in a sitting position may be more clear. If you're inviting someone to sit (2) is correct.
