Some young people are leaving the countryside to live in cities and towns, leaving only old people in the countryside?

In the past few years, It has been observed that more and more young adults are relocating to urban areas, and therefore only elderly people are being found in rural areas. The major problem of this trend is the rise in the poverty rate in the countryside and governments could solve this issue by encouraging improvements of such areas and by generating more jobs for young people.

The foremost issue in villages, which have only older inhabitants, is that more people would become poorer. That is to say, old people might not possess good health, adequate stamina or even mental abilities to do certain work for earning money for their family. Even if they wished to work, they would have fewer or no job opportunities in countrysides, and therefore they would face scarcity of money. In many Indian villages, for example, about 80% of the inhabitants are living below the poverty line.

The viable solution for this issue is that governments should prioritize the development of rural areas and create more job possibilities for younger people. This would certainly help young people in finding the relevant job and better quality of life in countrysides. As a consequence, the economy of these areas would be boosted and the lesser number of people would have to suffer from poverty. In 2018, for instance, the poverty rate in many Indian villages had fallen by 27% due to multiple developments supported by state councils.

In conclusion, politicians should tackle the problem of increase in poverty rate, caused by the higher number of old people in rural areas, by focusing on the growth of such places and by creating better job prospects for young individuals.
