Please answer this for me

I woke up dazed. My first thought was that I had overslept and was late for work. But then I looked at my watch and realized that I had just dozed off for a few minutes.

Is it grammatically correct and idiomatic?

Is 'dazed' and 'dozed off' related? If yes, what could I write instead of 'dazed' so that it won't seem repetitive?

Yes.

It does not come off repetitive. I do not sense any relation between the two words, by the way.
