Please answer this

When I came down for dinner my parents were looking very despondent. Apparently it was all for me. They told me they'd heard that Tony had broken up with me and said they were sorry, but I couldn't take it seriously as I knew they were happy on the inside.

Is "apparently it was all for me" ok here? And the rest?

I appreciate it. Thank you.
