Hi

If Turki has already paid the price, then it is almost certainly the past indicative and that is (d) ...

- The painting was very expensive

It could be (c) but then you would expect some other words signalling that ...

- The painting should have been expensive, but Turki only paid 10 million riyals for it

Hi Dave,

I think you should let the OP indicate his choice instead of spoon-feeding him/her.

Hi

I assume that the enquirer already has their own opinion and they are just asking me what I think. I see nothing wrong in that

We often arrive at new ideas by asking other people what they think

Language does not have to be a game of hide-and-seek

Yoong Liat and I assume that the enquirer is asking us to do their homework free.

If they have their own opinion they can give it to us first.

Spoonfeeding homework answers is unprofessional.

Hi

Fair do's, but why do you assume that? Why not assume that the enquirer just wants to hear someone else's point of view?

I think there are quite a few, including other moderators, who do not like to spoon-feed.

Hi

That's the third time I've seen "spoon-feed" in this thread; is there some kind of shortage of metaphors? Telling people what they want to know does not need the put-down. There is nothing inherently wrong in giving a straight answer to a question
