Please advise on a sentence, thx soooo much!

I have a kiddo who wrote:

We read scary stories that match the part of a scary Halloween.

Can anyone tell me if it sounds okay and is correctly written?

Thx sooooo much in advance!

"Match the part" does not fit in the sentence. Maybe kiddo meant to say - Reading scary stories is (part of) what makes a Halloween scary.
