UK acid rain emission: The graph below shows UK acid rain emissions, measured in millions of tones, from four different sectors between 1990 and 2007

The line chart compares the amount of acid rain emissions in term of sectors in the UK over the period of 17 years.

It is noticeable that the total amount of acid rain emissions decreased considerably in 2007. Meanwhile, among four sectors, electricity, gas and water supply by far saw the biggest decline.

A detailed look at the chart reveals that electricity, gas and water supply went down significantly to 0.5 million tonnes in 2007. Moreover, it was overtaken by other industries which had the second-biggest amount of acid rain in 1990, over 2 million tonnes. However, there was also seen a moderate drop in other industries to around 1.25 million tones in 2007.

Domestic remained the smallest amount of rain during 17 years, more or less 0.6 million tonnes in 1990 and at 0.25 million tonnes in 2007. Eventually, only transport and communication rose gradually to rough 1 million tonnes in 2005, then that fell by 0.25 million tonnes within 2 years.
