If you say, "Please accept my apologies," does that mean that you have made at least two mistakes and apologize for them?

If you say, "Please accept my apology," does that mean that you have made one mistake and apologize for it?

Is "Please accept my apology for not coming on time" correct, and is "Please accept my apologies for not coming on time" wrong?
