Politicians too often base their decisions on what will please the voters, not on what is best for the country.
_________________________________________________________

In a representative democracy, representatives are selected by the voters to convey their ideas and values in the government. Voters will not choose someone who is opposite to the voters opinion.

Sometimes what voters request is not always good for the country. In 1998, Indonesia was ruled by leader who was not In a good relation with his people. Then, Indonesian people started a demonstration against their leader asking for a new one. After a long demonstration and struggle they finally got what they wanted, but it did not turn out so well. In fact, the new leader had not made any positive impact in the country. On contrary, he caused high poverty and the poor became poorer.

In some cases where the voters opinion can change the country to a better. In 2009, Saudi Arabia had one of the worst flood in its history. The people suffered, lost their families and had their home crushed. After a while when everything went back to normal. People asked for Water drainage project , but the government never listened to their demands. In 2010,again Jedediah had the same flood and it is worse . Rose in death toll , and people could not leave their work place. In 2009, In U.K when the government rose the Tuition fees on the students, and protesters reacted violently. This decision could effect the students in a negative way, such as, less students might join the schools next year.
Politicians should seek on both what it can be good for the country and what please the voters. This what democracy requires . People would reacted if they see the government isnt doing good with their people and the country. People have the right to express their opinion openly . What is happening in Tunisia and Egypt was due to corruption and non-democracy ruling.
