I find it hard to believe a native speaker would ever write 16.00 pm because there is no such hour as 16.00 am.Emotion: winkApart fr

They will play a football match/game tomorrow at 4pm. [ This is fine.]

I have heard that the match can't be played. People play a game of foot ball.

In the US, it would have to be: "They will play a football game tomorrow at 4 PM." In the US, the word "football" can mean only one thing: American style football as played in the NFL, colleges, and high schools. And it has to be "football game", never "football match." Soccer can only be referred to as "soccer" in the US, never as "football."

Growing up in New England, I often heard and spoke expressions such as "lets play a touch football match after lunch" and "you take the kids to their soccer game this afternoon". Anonymous is also correct about

Honestly, which is the simplest: 16h00 / 4 o'clock pm / 4pm / 4 o'clock in the afternoon ?

I vote for 4 pm! 4 keystrokes.
