Playing field

Hi

One person says to another: Do you think there are ways that we could tilt the playing field to help people of low income have an easier time making healthier choices?

Does it just mean: Do you think we can tip the balance in favour of people with little money so that they could buy themselves healthier foods?

Hi

My guess is that, in the UK originally, soccer was not always played on a field that was level. The team playing uphill had a disadvantage

It's not a very good metaphor because, in soccer, the teams change ends and so each team would have the downhill advantage during half of the play

I'd also have to say it's not a good metaphor with 'tilt' because I can't think of
