Vincent Teo(a) He played (with) the computer in the house.

I think many prepositions ( on, at, with ) can be applied to this sentence except ' Play in the computer '

Hi,
maybe it's the same as "play on the Playstation"... so it's "I play on my computer..."
I'm not sure though Emotion: smile

Here is my suggestion:
He played computer games on the PC in the house.

Hi Amy,
I checked on the net, and I think you are right, "playing computer games" should be the best way to say that, instead of "playing on my computer".
I think I once read in some thread that it should be "playing on the playstation"... but on the net I found that just "playing playstation" seems very common too. What do you think?

I think I've heard my nephew say "playing Playstation".
I think I've also heard him say things such as "Me and Tim were gaming all day yesterday".

Hmm, are you saying that only your nephew would say that? (and implying that it's not ok?)

I checked that on myspace. Most people there say "playing playstation", without any preposition...

Hi Kooyeen

I don't play Playstation myself, so I can only report what I've heard, and I've mainly heard younger people talking about 'playing Playstation'. I'm an older woman who only occasionally plays computer games on her PC -- though I will admit to having also played some of the Wii games.

Where did you get your hands on a Wii? We've been looking for one for months!

Okay, sorry, off topic.

Play on the computer says to me that you're playing games on the computer.

Play with the computer says that you are using the computer itself to amuse yourself (not the games). You're changing the screen saver, you're making the screen appear upsdide down,

Ah-ha! LOL
I see. Thank you for all you comments. Thank you too, GG.
