Play hurt

Any idea what "play hurt" means guys? I thought it meant to act like you're okay despite really being sick, but I just want to make sure.

I'd really appreciate any help on this! Thanks.

Need some context. " You pretend to be hurt in order to gain sympathy - Munchausen Syndrome Or it can mean that you continue playing in a game as a member of a team, although you have truly been injured.

I'm not familiar with this usage.

As I said above, the usage when you're actually sick or injured is more in the sense of "to continue playing, although hurt."

Thanks Avangi, but your first reply was all I needed. It is exactly like you said. Actually Deborah Norville (of Inside Edition) said it about Jay Leno. Thanks a million for such a quick reply!
