Plausible challenger

Hi, My dictonary shows me three options for "Plausible" reasonable, likely, makes a good impression (for people) *My translation may be poor, but I hope it's close to the right meaning ...

A "Challenger" mean here "Someone who calls somebody for a challenge" ? There was another term in English, I forgot the word but it something like "Person who claims the crown"

Thanks guys ...
