These days, the use of plastic bags is considered as one of the biggest issues that humans are facing in contemporary society. Although they are both convenient and handy, there still remains a detrimental impact on human life and the development of society.

One of the primary reasons why poly bags should be banned is that such bags are non-biodegradable. Once they are discarded to the environment, especially buried in the land, they start to amalgamate with the soil which may take hundreds of years to decompose into pieces. Even when plastic carriers start to break down, it fragments into micro plastic that causes more damage to life on Earth. Moreover, if the animals accidentally choke on plastic, they are more likely to suffer from various diseases and finally come to death.

The second reason why the government should prohibit the consumption of plastic carriers is that toxic chemicals contained in these things are extremely dangerous if they are burnt. These harmful by-products will be released into the air, resulting in the gradual increase of deadly diseases such as cancers when people constantly inhale the exhaust gas. Furthermore, the chemicals also affect the fertility of the soil. This is because the roots of the plants are unable to penetrate through plastic particles to get nutrients from the soil leading to the reduction in yield.

To conclude, plastic shopping bags not only lead to serious air pollution but also soil contamination as well as creatures's deaths. From aforementioned drawbacks, I would contend that plastic carriers should be forbidden in the near future.
