Planning on doing an MA TESOL without a BA. Future problems?

Hi there!

I've been accepted into Nottingham's MA TESOL program. I was able to enter the program due to my experience and certificates. As mentioned in the post, I lack an undergraduate degree.

I'm wondering in what ways not having a BA might hinder my teaching opportunities. I've been told that there are a few countries (Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand) which require a BA for legal work status, and that the MA will not suffice (Korea I'm not 100 percent on).

I'm interested in teaching at the primary school level as well as the university level.

It's a tough question, and one which I've already investigated on other forums.

Thanks.

If you check the Japanese Visa application website, you need either a BA or (I can't remember the exact amount of years) 10 years experience in your profession. The British Council lists jobs for MA qualified teachers and can advise. It is your best bet.

Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely look into the BC website.

Actually for Japan - in regards to teaching - it's only 3 years of full-time teaching experience.

Hi, I enquired about admission on the the same course at the same university (I have no BA either, but a CELTA and a TEFL) and they told me that I needed a DELTA to do the course. What certificates did you have?
