Planets Aligned

Sargeant says the planets have aligned just recently with much faster bus speeds, multicore

processing, solid-state drives and GPU acceleration.

What's this supposed to mean? metaphor or just the literal meaning ?

It does make much sence to me.

It's a metaphor - the right things are all happening at the same time so that something else good is possible. I suppose the opposite would be "the perfect storm" of all the wrong things happening at the same time so that something bad is likely or caused.
