Take a look at the following definition of the term 'sagittal plane':
A sagittal plane is an imaginary Plane that travels vertically from the top to the bottom of the body, dividing it into left and right portions.
Now my question is with regards to the word 'plane', I know that plane means a flat or level surface, but how is this definition of the word plane in conformity with the term sagittal plane?! Is this the definition that yeilds forth:
A sagittal plane is an imaginary Plane (flat level or surface) that travels vertically from the top to the bottom of the body, dividing it into left and right portions.

Imagine something very flat and smooth, like a thin sheet of glass, exactly cutting the body in two. Then throw away the glass and just picture the surface of the glass as an idealised geometrical concept. That's your "plane".
