Vocabulary

plain crazy/just plain crazy

Hello,
Which version sounds more natural to you and how common is it to use the construction "plain + adjective"?
- Don't you ever do that again! That was plain crazy/just plain crazy.

Is "plain + ....." what you would normally use in everyday speech? I have to admit that I don't encounter it very often.

Thank you. Emotion: smile

Thank you, Mr Micawber. Would "That's plain crazy/He's plain crazy" sound more natural than "He's totally crazy/That's totally/completely crazy"? I hear "totally/etc crazy" much more often, but "plain..." could still be the more natural choice in everyday speech.

They are both natural. 'Totally' as a modifier for anything is a current slang.
