Placement of adverbs

Hi. Where should we put adverbs like "finally" and "still" (I think they are) in sentences like the ones below? I think an adverb usually goes before the main verb.

Joe worked on his report until finally his finished report lay beside him.

Although he was in pain, still he lay unmoving.
