Vocabulary

placement

Dear all,

I would like to know if I can say the following:

I want to study while being placed with a company.

In English there is a nice word "placement" meaning "internship". Does "place" mean the same or am I completely wrong? If not how could I say this correctly?

To be placed on a job doesn't mean you're inexperienced at the job (which intern does suggest in some way), placed is a more general word suggesting something (maybe even luck) put you on that one. d

So "to be places with a company" does not mean "to be employed as a trainee with a company"? If it means anything at all.

I think you just use context.
A university placement is likely to be one of learning.
A placement because you are hired out by a recruitment agency may be one of just carrying out a job contract.
Just my view though... it may be others have a different slant.

If there's no clue from the context, I think "placed" is slightly more neutral regarding your skills than "placement".
Another example would be a salesman or representative which a company places somewhere. "The oil company manager placed him in Scotland"

As I see from your examples, "placed" implies a subject, somebody who places you. Correct?

That would be my general understanding.
There's a sense you are being placed by someone higher up, or by someone you've agreed to choose for you. It may be your being placed in a situation is a sign of your special experience. Or it may be they are just trying to get rid of a person
