I would say that what you describe is some kind of "psychological effect", but not a "placebo effect" or "placebo thought", though a placebo effect is a subset of psychological effects, of course. In very ordinary, casual situations like this we might say 'It's just your mind playing tricks on you" or "You're just imagining things" or, a bit more formally, "You're giving in to the power of suggestion".
