If I want to ask a player if he finished 3rd, 4th etc...

How do I write this?

What position did you finish in?
What position did you finish?
What place did you finish?
What place did you finish in?

I have heard : I placed 3rd in the tournament.
Is the question right?
What did you place in the tournament?
