Pitch across/over

Hi,

Recently I'm confused with the meaning of "pitch across/over" I found in some samples. In the dictionaries (Macmillan, Longman) it is defined as fell, throw with force or move suddenly in direction.

Here are the samples that I cannot extract the meaning from, even figuratively

  • Both trade bodies are intent on improving the standard of pitching across the industry.
  • Sometimes the conversation swings away from pitching over to exclusivity agreements.

I'll appreciate any help. Thank you

As far as I can tell, "pitching" in those quotes means the activity of trying to sell something (typically by making a presentation to a potential customer). "pitching across" and "pitching over" are not phrasal combinations in the that way you may be thinking. Both trade bodies are intent on improving the standard of pitching.
