P.I.P

Then they cut down the sycamore tree. And two weeks later Champ died. He'd been spending a lot of time sleeping, and even though we didn't really know how old he was, no one was really surprised when one night Dad went out to feed him and discovered he was dead. We buried him in the backyard, and my brothers put up a cross that reads: HERE LIES THE MYSTERY PISSER P.I.P.

P.I.P is a short for what? permanent in peace?

P. has been back-formed to mean also simply "Rest in Peace" (in English), but it was originally just a Latin acronym. Also, it could be a deliberate change on "rest in peace" to "**** in peace," to be funny and ironic, but it's hard to tell without more context.

A typo, probably, for "R.I.P.," which is an acronym for the Latin "Requiescat In Pace," meaning "May he rest in peace." R.I.P. has been back-formed to mean also simply "Rest in Peace" (in English), but it was originally just a Latin acronym.
