Pinochet supporters or Pinochet's supportes

The following sentence is taken from The Washington Post:

Pinochet supporters portray him as the savior of a nation transformed into an economic juggernaut -- so financially sound that it has been dubbed the "South American Switzerland."

My question is:

Would it be equally correct to write, "Pinochet's supporters....." using the possessive?

Thank you
