Pile on or in

Hi,

“They started piling into the bus.”

“They started piling onto the bus.”

“They were piling on/in.”

I know that we normally use ‘on’ with bus, but I’d probably go for ‘in and into’ after ‘pile’.

What do you think?

I would too. "... piling into the bus". ("onto" is not wrong, however.)
