piece or peace?

I know this is correct... "I gave him a piece of my mind."

But, when you say "I am done talking. I have said my piece." Shouldn't piece be peace?

No, I think it should be "piece" here. "I have said my piece" means I have given my opinion / I have made my (prepared) statement / I have said what I wanted to say.

I agree. You can "make your peace" with something, though, meaning you have become resigned to it or accepted it.

All right, Aunt Sally. You've said your piece and we all know how you feel about my marrying Jimbo. But I'm going to marry him no matter what you or anybody else says, so you might as well make your peace with it.
