Picture Books for ESL students

Does anyone have any suggestions of picture books that can be used to help ESL students read? I am a librarian and would like to increase my collection of picture books that would entice ESL students.

What age group do you want to reach? I know very little about primary teaching materials, but some of the private schools where I live use the Oxford Reading Tree. It's intended (I think) for native speakers, but the lower levels are basically flashcards with pictures, and a simple story that you read.

  • Perhaps they have individual books that the students can work through on their own.
  • Also, the main publishers all have easy readers: simplified English story books.
