I'd like to know how fast you've picked up French, since you are working in France. (since = because)
I'd like to know how fast you've picked up French, since you have worked in France. (since = the start of a time period)

pick up = learn by assimilation, not by formal classes

Thanks for answering.I know the meaning of the phrase 'pick up', I wanted to know how to to use it as a noun.In the examples that AlpheccaStars gave, it was used as a phrasal verb, so can we use the same as a noun? If yes then could you give me an example?

It has a completely different meaning as a noun.

2) A stimulant (often caffeine): He has a cup of coffee after lunch for a quick pick-up. (Most often it's: "pick-me-up")
3) an open bed truck: Do you like
