physicals

Hello,

What does it mean when one detective says to the other who is more acquainted with the case than the former: Give me the physicals. And then the latter starts givin gphysical description of the victim?

Physicals: physical details of some kind?

I couldn't find it in Webster.

Hi Antonia, It's not a standard, well-known phrase. I guess it means physical details, of the body and/or the crime scene. I'm not sure if detectives on TV talk the same way as real detectives, I doubt it.

Hello!

I don't thinks "the physicals" here relates to crime scene details. To me it sounds more like giving the physical description, the kind of things that a doctor would write on a form while giving someone a physical examination or/and that you would find on your ID (height, weight, colour of the eyes etc)

So you think it's rather ''physical description'' than physical details?

But "physical details" are also part of the description? What's the difference to you?

It's the same. Physical details, description. Thanks Pieanne
