Phrases and clauses - help please

I'm having trouble identifying phrases and clauses.

I know clauses must have a noun/pronoun and a verb, but must the noun/pronoun always be placed at the beginning of a sentence?

And second, what makes up a phrase? and what seperates a phrase from a dependant clause?

Thanks
