Phrases?

I want to clear this confusion about these phrases, please help me.

I can't say: (1) i didn't know what could i do for him <- (can i)

i can say: (2) i didn't tell him what did i see <- (can't i say this?)

Here i confuse why i can't say (1) but can say (2) while both have the same structure

Thanks for helping

Hi Anthon Please capitalize I. Neither sentence is correct. Indirect questions should have the same word order as affirmative clauses: I didn't know what I could do for him.
