Phrase question- please help

Every so often, I .......

What type of phrase is this? It is an adverbial phrase, correct?

Some adverbial phrases will have an adverb in them, but other adverbial phrase won't, correct?

How do I establish what is the HEAD of a phrase?

For example, in 'the day after...' it is an adverb phrase but is 'after' the head since it is the adverb?

Example of an adverbial phrase without an adverb present:

In Feburary, I will go to the theme parks.

The underlined words are a prepositional phrase functioning adverbally. It is saying WHEN I will go to the theme parks.
