Hello,
Question: Underline the phrase in these sentences (there may be more than one in a sentence) and write whether theu are noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, adverbial phrase or prepositional phrase.
1. I was too timid (adjective phrase) to approach any of the white people. (noun phrase)
2. It would be the first school (noun phrase) for negro children (prepositional phrase) that had ever open (verb phrase)on that part of Virginia.
Here I have some doubts.Shall I write "the first school for negro children" as noun phrase or as I have already shown above.
3. It was to be a great and wildly exciting event. (noun phrase)
4. I was bitterly disappointed. (adjective phrase)
I have underlined it and also written the type of phrase in the brackets, but I am not very sure.
Could anybody check it and comment and also give some useful hint about identifying the different phrases?
